David Sullivan is currently the majority shareholder with a 38.8 per cent stake at West Ham United. Daniel Kretinsky’s Czech investment group, 1890s Holdings a.s., own a 27 per cent share. On behalf of the Family Trust, Vanessa Gold owns 25.1 per cent of the Hammers.

American investment executive J. Albert Smith owns an 8 per cent share through WHU LLC, while the remaining 1.1 per cent is with other investors.

Sullivan and David Gold took control of the Irons after Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson’s Hansa Holding had to relinquish ownership of West Ham in 2010 due to the Icelandic financial crisis.

Who is David Sullivan?

Sullivan is a British businessman who was born in Cardiff, Wales.

Previously, along with Gold, the 76-year-old owned Birmingham City before selling his shares in 2009. He also previously owned Daily Sport and Sunday Sport before selling them.

Sullivan took control of West Ham in 2010 and wasn’t out of football for long, as he immediately took commercial and financial control of West Ham with Gold in 2010.

How much were West Ham bought for?

After Hans Holding filed for bankruptcy due to the financial crisis in Iceland, CP Holding was set up to manage West Ham’s affairs.

Sullivan and Gold initially acquired a 50 per cent stake but increased their shares, with other investors coming in later.

The two took control of the Hammers with a £ 105 million valuation. They also inherited £120m of debt from the previous owners.
