Supercomputer predicts where West Ham will finish in Premier League after deadline day clearout

West Ham were busy clearing the decks on deadline day, with several exits being confirmed.

Igor Julio was West Ham’s only signing of the day, as he joined from Brighton on loan, with the Hammers beating Crystal Palace to his signature.

West Ham failed to secure the loan signing of Chelsea’s Axel Disasi, who was unsure about the switch to East London.

Lewis Orford, Maxwel Cornet, Emerson and Nayef Aguerd all left the London Stadium, with all eyes now set on the Premier League.

West Ham predicted to finish 16th by supercomputer

It was a poor transfer window overall for the Hammers, with Mateus Fernandes and El Hadji Mallick Diouf their two statement signings.

Soungoutou Magassa has been signed to strengthen the midfield, and Mads Hermansen adds more stability in goal.

West Ham also secured the signings of free agents Kyle Walker-Peters and Callum Wilson, keeping hold of Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen in the final.

They have predicted Potter’s side to manage just 42.83 points, in comparison to 18th-placed Wolves, who are predicted to get 36.93.

West Ham have a 26.22 per cent chance of relegation according to Opta, but are backed to finish above all three of the promoted sides.

West Ham sleepwalking towards relegation

The supercomputer has been kind to Potter’s side, who were toothless in their opening two games.

The 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest won’t mask the flaws in West Ham’s side if they don’t continue that form, with defeats against Sunderland and Chelsea still fresh in the mind.

Graham Potter’s striker options:

To go into the transfer window thinking that the free agent signing of Wilson will be enough to mask their problems up front is bizarre.

The only reason Potter’s side will stay up is due to other teams having just as poor transfer windows as them, and promoted sides struggling to adapt to the top flight.
